Manufacture Order Entry Window

Manufacturing Order Entry window: Fields

Actual Demand

Displays the quantity of the item to be built from this manufacturing order for which there are pending requirements created in the Manufacturing/Sales Order Link window.

BOM Name (Bill of Materials Name)

This field is available only if you selected Archived or Configured for the bill of materials type.

Enter or select a bill of materials to use to complete a manufacturing order.

BOM Type (Bill of Materials Type)

Select the kind of bill of materials to be used to complete this manufacturing order. Refer to Bill of materials types for more information.

You can change the BOM Type for a manufacturing order if the status of the manufacturing order is Quote/Estimate or Open, but if you do so, you should also reschedule the manufacturing order and rebuild the picklist.

BOM Revision

Displays the current revision level of the bill of materials, which was set up in the Bill of Materials Entry window.

Description

Enter a brief description of the manufacturing order.

Draw Inventory From Site

Enter or select an inventory site where components should be taken from for this manufacturing order if no issue-from site is specified on the bill of materials, and no default site has been specified for the item. Refer to Issue-from and issue-to sites for more information.

Due Date

Accept the default due date or change it. If you enter a due date and then schedule the order with the Forward Infinite scheduling method, however, the due date field will be reset to its calculated value.

The manufacturing order due date can be reflected in the required dates for manufacturing order components. Refer to How required dates are calculated.

Ending Quantity

Enter the quantity to produce with this manufacturing order. If you enter a quantity that is less than the minimum order quantity for this item, or greater than the maximum order quantity for this item, a message will appear. If process security has been set up to restrict authorization for overriding the minimum and maximum order sizes, you might have to enter a password. The default ending quantity comes from the Item Engineering Data window.

The ending quantity cannot exceed the starting quantity.

Forecast Plan

If the manufacturing order automatically was created in the Master Production Scheduling module as a result of a forecast plan, the plan name will be displayed.

Item Description

Displays a brief description of the item being produced from the manufacturing order.

Item Number

Displays the number of the item being produced from the manufacturing order.

Job Number

If the manufacturing order is linked to a job, the identifier for the job will be displayed.

Lot Number

If the item being produced from the manufacturing order requires a lot number, you can enter it in the Lot Number field. You also can assign lot numbers to manufacturing order quantities when you enter them on manufacturing order receipts.

MO Number

Enter or select the identifier assigned to the manufacturing order. When you’re creating a new manufacturing order, you can accept the default manufacturing order that is displayed, or you can change it. Each manufacturing order must have a unique identifier.

You can’t select a manufacturing order that has Closed status.

If the manufacturing order is locked because it was exported for the Preactor integration, a small lock icon will be displayed next to the field.

MO Number note button

Opens a Note Entry window where you can enter more details about the manufacturing order.

MO Status

Select the status of the manufacturing order. Refer to Manufacturing order statuses and Rules for changing manufacturing order statuses for more information.

The order status must be Quote/Estimate or Planned before you can schedule it.

The order status must be Released before you can issue material or begin to close the manufacturing order.

If the manufacturing order is locked because it was exported for the Preactor integration, a small lock icon will be displayed next to the field.

Order Scheduled

If marked, the manufacturing order has been scheduled.

Partial Remove Date

If part of this manufacturing order record has been removed from your system, the date of the removal will be displayed.

Picklist Built

If marked, the picklist for the manufacturing order has been built.

Post Finished Goods to Site

Enter or select an inventory site where the finished items for this manufacturing order should be added. The default entry is part of the scheduling preference you’ve selected. You can change it in the Manufacturing Order Entry window, if needed. You also can change the posting site for the finished items in the Manufacturing Order Close window.

Priority

Displays the priority of the manufacturing order—Low, Medium or High. Priority levels don’t affect Manufacturing scheduling processes, but they’re sometimes used as sorting and restricting options in reports.

If you’re using the Preactor integration, the manufacturing order priority is used to determine which manufacturing orders should be scheduled first.

Routing Name

Enter or select the routing to be used to produce this manufacturing order. The default routing is the primary routing for the item. You can change the routing name for a manufacturing order if the status of the order is Quote/Estimate or Open, but if you do so, you should also reschedule the manufacturing order and rebuild the picklist.

Routing Revision

Displays the current revision level of the routing, which was set up in the Routing Header Edit window.

Scheduling Method

Select a scheduling method for the manufacturing order. The default entry is part of the default scheduling preference. You can change it, if needed. Refer to Scheduling methods for more information.

Scheduling Preferences

Enter or select a scheduling preference for the manufacturing order. The default entry will be the default scheduling preference specified in the Scheduling Preferences window. Refer to Scheduling preferences for more information.

Serial Numbers

This field is available only if the finished good for the manufacturing order is tracked by serial numbers.

Choose the expansion button to open the Manufacturing Serial Number Pre-Entry Inquiry window, where you can enter serial numbers for the finished goods. You also can assign serial numbers to manufacturing order quantities when you enter them on manufacturing order receipts.

Start Date

This field is available only if you’ve selected Forward Infinite scheduling method. Refer to Scheduling methods for more information. The manufacturing order due date can be reflected in the required dates for manufacturing order components. Refer to How required dates are calculated.

Enter or select the target start date for beginning this manufacturing order.

Start Quantity

When you enter the ending quantity, the system will calculate the starting quantity for you. The starting quantity is the number of items that you should begin to build—taking finished-item shrinkage into account—so that the order will produce the needed ending quantity. If your scheduling preferences are set so parent-item shrinkage isn’t reflected in the manufacturing order quantity, the start quantity will equal the end quantity. You can change the start quantity; for example, if your production floor is building an item for the first time, you might expect to have higher-than-normal parent-part shrinkage. The start quantity cannot be less than the ending quantity.

The start quantity for a manufacturing order is included in component calculations. Refer to How required quantities are calculated.
